Do you know your way around the Bali airport? Do you sometimes spend a lot of time trying to find that one shop in a large shopping mall? Then the Google Indonesia Indoor Map might be helpful to you.
Google Maps Indonesia is now equipped with Indoor Maps from public buildings allowing you to explore the inside of a building through the Google Maps app on your phone.
“This feature makes it easy for users in Indonesia, both tourists and local people,” said Nikhil Vaishnavi; Product Manager at Google Maps.
Google Indoor Maps can help users see the details of several floors of a building. You can find the location of the store and then find out where the nearest ATM and toilets are for example.

When you are in the phone app a detailed floor plan automatically appears when a user zooms in on a building or location where the Indoor Map feature is available.
Similar to the current Google Maps, a “blue dot” will be flickering on the map showing your current location. When you move floors, Google Maps will also update the location.
“With the holiday season in sight; we hope Indoor Maps will make your experience in Indonesia more enjoyable and fun” says Vaishnavi.
At this moment there are already 60 indoor maps in 13 cities in Indonesia. That is not a lot but building owners can help increase that number by uploading their own floor plan of their property.
Later, Google will help transform these floor plans into Google Indoor Maps. The owner of a building can upload the floor plan via the following link; Google Indoor Maps.
At this moment the indoor maps in Indonesia can only be accessed via the Google Maps application for Android. Owners of other platforms such as iOS still have to wait before they can take advantage of these new Google Maps feature.
